One of the things that sets Nordictrack elliptical trainers apart from other brands is iFit.
iFit is Nordictrack’s online streaming service that takes your elliptical online and opens up a world of training possibilities for you – right in your own home.
With many gyms being closed and most people not wanting to go to a crowded gym even if they could, training at home is a safer, more convenient alternative.
With iFit, you can run trails all over the world or stream daily fitness classes to your console.
You can also map out your own trails with Googlemaps and run anywhere in the world – enjoying the scenery through your console as you run. You can also use iFit to monitor your sleep and diet patterns as well as track how far you’ve come to get some fitness motivation.
Many Nordictrack elliptical trainers now connect with iFit through the full-color, HD, touch-screen console.
(There are a few models that don’t connect through the console. However, they’ll still work with iFit – you just have to use your tablet to connect with iFit and watch that way).
However, you may want to see exactly what iFit looks like on your Nordictrack elliptical. Here’s a video that shows you what iFit workouts look like when you’re training:
Common iFit Questions:
Is iFit Required To Use the Nordictrack Elliptical?
No, it is not.
According to the Manufacturer, iFit is an optional service and you can still use your elliptical in manual mode without iFit.
Here’s a direct quote from the Manufacturer website:
“If you don’t renew your subscription, you will have access to a limited number of iFit workouts. You can always use your treadmill, elliptical, bike, fusion or rower in manual mode. The iFit subscription is required for the advertised coach-controlled interactive personal training experience, but not mandatory to purchase.”
Note that if you get your Nordictrack elliptical through the Manufacturer, you can currently get a 1-year iFit subscription included on many Nordictrack elliptical trainers. (That’s why the quote above references renewing your subscription.)
You can basically try iFit out for a full year to see if you like it – which is a fantastic deal.
If you decide you don’t want iFIt, then you just go into your iFit account online and cancel your subscription renewal before the year is up to avoid being charged.
Also, note that you will still have access to a limited number of iFit workouts – even without the subscription.
So you still have several options to use the elliptical without iFit if you find that iFit is not right for you.
Are All Nordictrack Ellipticals iFit-Compatible?
Most of the newer models today are iFit-Compatible. However, note that older models may not come iFit compatible (if say, you buy an older model at a store or you buy second hand).
Note that with some models like the SE7i Folding elliptical, you can’t connect directly through the console. So while the machine will work with iFit – you’ll need to add your own tablet or phone and connect with iFit that way to watch the programs.
The cool thing is that – even if you use your tablet to connect with iFit – the machine will still react to the streaming workout. So it will automatically increase your resistance to match the workout (you can override this if you wish.).
And when you’re running the world trails the machine can automatically incline or decline to match the terrain (provided your elliptical has this feature.)
Another bonus? Nordictrack is actually adding in LIVE iFit streaming workouts for the new year. This will give you even more interactive training options.
