Nordictrack SE7i vs SE9i Elliptical Comparison – Which is Best?
Trying to compare the Nordictrack SE7i vs SE9i elliptical trainers?

These are both popular Spacesaver folding ellipticals that can be folded and stored away when not in use.
But while the folding mechanism on both trainers is the same and they look very similar – there are differences between them.

So how are they different? And which is best for you?
This post will go over the main differences between these two folding ellipticals to help you decide. (Please note for the full review of each crosstrainer visit Nordictrack SE7i Elliptical Review and Nordictrack SE9 Elliptical review)
Nordictrack SE7i Vs SE9i Elliptical Comparison:
#1 Price
The Spacesaver SE7i elliptical is the most affordable trainer between them coming in under $1000 with Free Shipping here.
The SE9i is the premium version in the series so it comes in about $500 more just under $1500 here. So if you’re on a budget, the SE7i is clearly the more popular choice.
Then again, the SE9i has a lot of premium features you don’t get on the SE7i – so it depends on what you’re looking for.
#2 Console
While the console on the SE7i trainer is bright and backlit, it’s only dual color – see below.
The SE9i has the upgraded multi-color console with touch-screen web browser. So you can surf the net, read emails or watch YouTube videos as you workout.
Given that these two ellipticals do not come with tablet holders above the consoles like some of Nordictrack’s other models, having a built-in web browser is particularly handy on the SE9i and can make your workouts a lot more enjoyable.
Also note that the console itself is larger on the SE9i model (7 inches across vs 5 inches across). This makes it easier to see the console and read your workout stats as well.

#3 Resistance Levels
The Nordictrack SE9i elliptical has 24 resistance levels vs 22 on the SE7 elliptical. So you have a bit more room to grow on the SE9i as your fitness level improves.
#4 Incline
Both ellipticals come with power incline – so you can change the slope of your elliptical while training to get a better crosstraining workout.
However the SE9i comes with a bit more incline than the SE7i elliptical: up to 10 degrees of incline vs up to 7 degrees. So again, like with resistance, you have a bit more room to grow on the SE9i crosstrainer.
#5 Free Wireless Chest Strap
While both machines give you hand grip heart rate monitors, the SE9i elliptical comes with a free wireless chest strap to take your heart rate as well.
A lot of people prefer the wireless chest strap since it tends to be more accurate.
It also is a lot more convenient than having to continually grasp the EKG hand sensors (and interrupt your upper body workout).
#6 Longer Warranty
The Nordictrack SE9i also gives you more warranty protection: Lifetime Frame Warranty, 5 Year Parts and 2 Year Labor Warranty – which is a lot better than the Lifetime Frame, 2 year parts and 1 year labor warranty on the Nordictrack SE7i trainer.

Nordictrack SE7i vs SE9i Elliptical Bottom Line:
Both trainers have their pros and cons.
The main benefit of the SE7i elliptical is that it’s super affordable and gives you all the basics you need. So it’s great if you’re on a budget but still want a sturdy, stable folding elliptical.
The SE9i also folds up – but it gives you a lot more in terms of workout entertainment (web browser, full color console). It also gives you a bit more room to grow fitness-wise (higher incline and more resistance).
So at the end of the day, it comes down to what’s most important to you.
