Nordictrack has updated the popular Freestride trainer models for this year.
They still have the fully adaptable 32-inch stride and come iFit Coach compatible – so you can run trails all over the world.
However the problem is that they look very similar to each other. This may leave you wondering – What’s the difference?
And which one is best for you?
This post will show you the main differences between the latest Nordictrack FS7i vs FS9i Freestrider trainers to help you make a more informed decision.
Nordictrack FS7i vs FS9i – Price
The Nordictrack FS7i is the most affordable model out of the two coming in at around $1999 with Free Shipping here. That makes it more attractive budget-wise.
The Nordictrack FS9i is the premium model in the lineup with a few more perks to it. You can get it for around $2799 with Free Shipping here. So what do you get for the extra money with the FS9i model?
While both Freestride Trainers come with the full-color, touch-screen HD consoles, the FS7i console measures around 7 inches across:
The Freestrider FS9i model is larger – measuring about 10 inches across:
The larger console can really make your iFit coach workouts come alive – especially when you’re running different trails all over the world from Paris to the Swiss Alps. It can also make your workout stats easier to read.
Both consoles come with new, pivoting tablet holders – so you can attach your tablet and surf the web or watch your favorite shows as you workout.
Both console windows also tilt – so you can find the best viewing angle for you.
Nordictrack FS7 or FS9 – Incline/Decline
Incline and decline change the slope of your elliptical pathway, helping you to use more muscle groups and get a more optimal workout. It’s a great way to add extra crosstraining to your workouts
The FS7 trainer gives you up to 10 degrees of power incline – which is great.
But the FS9i gives you 10 degree incline AND 10 degree decline as well. So it gives you a few extra ways to crosstrain and work different lower body muscle groups.
The FS7i Freestride Trainer gives you up to 24 levels of resistance while the FS9i gives you up to 26 levels of resistance.
It’s not a huge difference. But you do have a bit more room to grow with the FS9i trainer as your fitness levels improve over time.
Nordictrack FS9i vs FS7i – Built-in Workouts
The FS7i comes with 35 built-in workouts whereas the FS9i comes with 38 built-in workouts. However this probably won’t matter too much to you.
Well, if you get either of the Freestrider trainers direct from the Manufacturer, you’ll also get a Free 1 year membership to iFit coach (as of this writing).
And with iFit Coach you can choose from over 12,000 video HD workouts – from HIIT training to running through the Swiss Alps to walking tours through famous world sites.
So a few more or less built-in workouts doesn’t really mean too much considering all the workouts you’ll get with iFit Coach.
So which is better when comparing the Nordictrack Freestrider FS7i vs FS9i?
Well, they both give you the 32-inch adaptable stride that can help you burn more calories and find a more comfortable stride than a standard elliptical.
The FS7i model is more affordable – which makes it more attractive price-wise. And you’ll still get everything you need to get a fun, comfortable, challenging workout.
However the FS9i model has the larger console screen, more resistance levels and decline as well as incline. So there’s a bit more room to grow with this trainer.
It all comes down to what’s most important to you at the end of the day.
