Both of these ellipticals give you the key advantage of the Freestride trainer: a fully adaptable stride.

This means you’re not locked into a set stride (like a standard elliptical). You can constantly change up your stride for more a more effective crosstraining workout.

This also gives you multiple lower body motions to choose from – up-and-down stair-climbing, longer jogging strides or even longer running strides.

Both machines also give you a full-color, HD, touch-screen console where you can stream iFit in-studio classes. You can try a new studio workout every day from the comfort of your own home.

Nordictrack FS7i vs FS14i – Price

As of this writing, the Nordictrack FS7i is the most affordable model, coming in at around $1999 with Free Shipping here. That makes it more attractive budget-wise. It’s basically the most affordable model in the series.

The Nordictrack FS14i is the premium model in the series with a lot more bells and whistles.

It’s currently around $3999 with Free Shipping here. This is a pretty big price difference – so what do you get for the extra money?

Console Differences

While both Freestride Ellipticals give you an impressive full-color, touch-screen HD console, the FS7i console measures around 7-inches across:

The Freestrider FS14i model is much larger. It’s actually double the size at 14-inches across:

The larger console makes it easier to read and follow your workout stats. It also makes the iFit world trails and studio classes feel much more immersive – for a more enjoyable, fun workout experience.

Both models comes with tilting consoles – so you can angle the screen to the best viewing angle for you. You also get one-touch speed and incline buttons as well as dual-speed cooling fans.

The main difference here is in the screen size. For many people, bigger is always better when it comes to screen size.

Nordictrack FS7 vs FS14 – Incline/Decline

Incline changes the slope of your elliptical pathway and it’s a great way to get a more effective crosstraining workout.

The good news is that while the Nordictrack FS7i did not used to have incline, Nordictrack has added it to the new model this year.

You get up to 10 degrees of power-incline with either the Nordictrack FS7i or FS14i.

However the Nordictrack FS14i goes one better and also adds up to 10 degrees of power DECLINE as well. That means the FS14i can simulate running uphill with incline – or downhill with decline.

So you get more crosstraining options with the FS14i Freestrider – vs the FS7i Freestrider – with the decline option.

Nordictrack FS7i vs FS14i – Integrated Handlebar Controls

You can change your incline or resistance levels from the console buttons on the Nordictrack FS7i elliptical.

With the Nordictrack FS14i trainer, you also have another option. You can change your incline or resistance from the controls on top of the moving arm bars.

This means you don’t have to reach up to the console to do it (and possibly throw off your stride.)

It’s a small convenience – but many people do like it.

Resistance Level Differences

The Nordictrack FS7i Freestrider comes with up to 24 digital resistance levels – which is pretty good and gives you a lot of options to push yourself.

The FS14i Freestrider does a bit better, giving you up to 26 digital resistance levels. It’s not a huge difference – but there’s a bit more room to grow with this model.

Bottom Line?

So which is better when comparing the Nordictrack Freestrider FS7i vs FS14i?

Well, it really depends on what you’re looking for. The FS7i trainer is more affordable. And it still gives you the 32-inch adaptable stride that can give you a more effective workout than a traditional elliptical.

The FS14i trainer offers you a bit more luxury however.

With the double-the-size screen you can get a more immersive iFit workout. The decline gives you even more ways to crosstrain your lower body. And more resistance levels give you a bit more room to grow.

Is it worth the extra money for the FS14i trainer?

That really depends on your goals, budget and workout preferences at the end of the day.
