What’s the Difference?
Trying to compare the Nordictrack FS7i Freestride Trainer:
to the FS9i Freestride Trainer?
These are both premium Freestrider models – complete with up to 38 inch strides and full color consoles with web browsers. They are very similar in build and design.
So how are they different? And which one is right for you? Here are a few things you need to know about the Nordictrack Freestride Tainer FS7i vs FS9i.
Freestride Trainer FS7i vs FS9i Comparison:
The FS9i is the next model up from the FS7i – so it runs about $1000 more. The FS7i is the most popular model and comes in just under $2000 with Free Shipping here.
So what do you get on the FS9i model for the extra money?
While both Freestride Trainers come with the full-color console and built-in web browser, the FS9i web browser is larger and easier to read than the FS7i.
The FS9i carries the largest web browser Nordictrack puts on their ellipticals – a full 10 inches across. (see below).
The FS7i console – see below – is only 7 inches across. This is still a pretty health size. But if you want to watch your stats – or surf the net – on a larger screen, the FS9i is worth considering.
Also consider that if you’re going to use iFit to watch the different world workouts (where actual landmarks pass you by in the screen as you’re running), you’ll get more enjoyment out of watching on a larger screen.
Incline and decline change the slope of your elliptical pathway, helping you to use more muscle groups and get a more optimal workout. It’s a great way to add extra crosstraining to your exercise time.
The FS7 gives you incline – which is great. But the FS9i gives you incline and decline. So it adds a bit more room for extra crosstraining and challenge.
#4 Resistance Levels
The FS7i Freestride Trainer gives you up to 24 levels of resistance while the FS9i gives you up to 26 levels of resistance.
So you have a bit more room to grow with the FS9i as your fitness levels improve over time.
#5 Workout Programs
You also get a few more built-in workout programs with the FS9i trainer than the FS7i trainer: 38 vs 35. However if you’re planning to try iFit LIVE, this may not matter to you since you get unlimited new workouts with iFit.
Nordictrack Freestride Trainer FS7i vs FS9i – Bottom Line
So which is better for you? This really depends on your budget, goals and preferences. For example the FS9i has a few more comfort features like the larger web browser and workout programs.
There’s also more room to grow with extra resistance and decline.
But these things aren’t absolutely necessary to get a great workout on the Freestride Trainer. If you really don’t care as much about these things – and just want the adjustable stride of the Freestrider, you may be just a happy with the FS7i model.
