Nordictrack recently introduced a new elliptical to their lineup for 2016 – the Nordictrack C9.5. This is a front drive trainer that will probably eventually replace their older starter models like the Nordictrack E 11.9 trainer.
A lot of people prefer a front drive elliptical because they tend to be a bit more stable and sturdy than a rear drive machine (because the larger flywheel is at the front closer to the console).
The C 9.5 comes with a pretty decent 25 pound flywheel to make the ride feel smoother. And you also get power incline – which you can use to change the slope of the elliptical pathway. At up to 20 degree inclines, this is one of the top inclines you can get.
And for entertainment fun, there’s also a 7 inch touch screen web browser in the console. And you can attach your tablet above the console and watch Netflix or your favorite movies as you workout.
Right now, as of this writing, Nordictrack still has the price up to $1999 and at that price point, it’s not a great buy.
However this is probably because they want to move the older stock out first (like the E11.9). Once they do, you will probably see the price on the C9.5 trainer drop quite a bit.
Under $1200 it’s a good buy – over that and you’d be better off with the Elite 12.9.
