Nordictrack C12.9 Elliptical Review – The Benefits:
#1 Full-Color HD Console
The Nordictrack C 12.9 trainer gives you a 7 inch, full-color, HD touch-screen console. You can see your workout stats in full color with a swipe of your finger.
Or connect with iFit and run trails all over the world. You’ll see real landmarks pass you by in the console screen (more on iFit below).
Plus with the pivoting tablet holder above the console, you can attach your tablet and surf the web as you run or watch your favorite shows or movies.
Another nice touch is the dual-speed fan in the console – a great way to stay cool as you run.
#2 Heavy 30-Pound Flywheel Gives You Extra Stability
A heavier flywheel gives you a smoother feeling ride without the jerky stop-and-start motions you often get with cheaper ellipticals.
The flywheel on the C12.9 elliptical is a whopping 30 pounds and gives you an ultra-smooth ride. Plus the extra weight adds stability to the machine. So you can really work this trainer without worrying about wobbling or shaking.
#3 Explore the World with iFit Coach
The Nordictrack C12.9 elliptical trainer comes with iFit Coach built-in. iFit connects your trainer to the Internet.
From there you can watch HD fitness videos from your favorite trainers – or just choose to run well-known world trails from Hawaii to Arizona.
You’ll see actual landmarks pass you by in the console screen – for a more virtual reality type of experience.
Want to slow it down? Take a walking tour through Florence, Italy. Or do interval training at a temple in Thailand.
You can also use iFit to track your workouts over time, your every day activity or even your dietary of sleep habits. Set new goals in these areas to achieve your best health and energy levels!
And the best part?
If you get the Nordictrack 12.9 through the Manufacturer here, you’ll get a FREE 1 year membership to iFit with your elliptical. So you can try it out to see if you like it. (You don’t need iFit to use this elliptical – iFit is just an add-on option if you want it).
#4 Up to 20 Degree Power Incline
Incline changes the slope of your elliptical path and helps to work different lower body muscle groups.
You get from 0 to 20 degree incline with this elliptical. It’s power incline – so you can change it from the console without having to get off the machine.
#5 More Resistance Levels
The Nordictrack 12.9 also comes with more resistance levels than the starter ellipticals – a full 26 levels of digital resistance. This gives you a lot of room to grow with the machine.
So it’s less likely that you’ll top out at the highest resistance level on this trainer, even as your fitness improves.
#6 Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
If you get the C12.9 elliptical direct through the Manufacturer here, you can also get a FREE wireless heart rate monitor included.
A lot of people prefer a wireless chest strap monitor as it’s much more convenient that continually grasping the hand sensors.
This also tends to give you a more accurate reading than the hand sensors.
Nordictrack C12.9 Elliptical Review – What You Should Know:
#1 Not Really an “Adjustable Stride”
Nordictrack advertises the 12.9 elliptical as having an adjustable stride from 18 – 20 inches. But that’s a little misleading. The stride changes as you change the incline – you can’t just set it and go as with some trainers.
#2 iFit Subscription
iFit is a subscription based service. While you can get your 1st year for free (see below), you will have to renew it next year if you want to keep using iFit (you don’t have to renew if you don’t want to – but it’s something to be aware of.)
The Nordictrack C12.9 is a premium elliptical coming in at a mid-range price. It steps up from the C9.5 model to give you a heavier flywheel for added stability and more resistance levels for extra challenge.
Plus the full color console, tablet holder, iPod dock and iFit will make your workouts a lot more enjoyable.
It’s also nice to know that it was awarded a “2017 Elliptical Best Buy” from Good Housekeeping.
While it doesn’t carry some of the toys of the more expensive Nordictrack crosstrainer models, it’s still a strong, impressive machine that comes in for a fantastic price.
Where To Buy And Save:
