Nordictrack ACT vs Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 Elliptical
Which is Best For You?
Trying to compare the Nordictrack ACT:

vs the Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 elliptical (note: this elliptical is now called the Spacesaver SE7i)?

Both come in around the same price point – under $1000. And both are very popular, best-selling models.
However these are 2 very different elliptical trainers.
So which is best? Here’s a comparison of the main differences between the Nordictrack ACT and the Audiostrider 990:
#1 Design
The ACT has a dual side flywheel design (also known as a center drive design) where two smaller flywheels are placed on either side of the elliptical pedals.
The Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 has a rear flywheel design where 1 larger flywheel is placed at the back, behind the pedals.
The benefit to a side flywheel design like the ACT is that you tend to stand more upright on the pedals and lean less on the arm bars – which feels more comfortable for a lot of people.
However, some people also like the rear flywheel design because it tends to be less climbing and more “flat” – so it’s a bit more like running than climbing.
#2 Folding
The Audiostrider 990 folds up (which is why Nordictrack actually changed it’s name to the “Spacesaver SE7i” – to remind people that it folds up). The ACT does not fold up – however it’s more compact than a lot of unfolded front or rear drive ellipticals.
The 990 also has wheels on the bottom so you can fold it up and move it out of the way pretty easily.
#3 Incline
Incline, while not necessary to have, changes the slope of your elliptical path to give you more crosstraining options.
The Audiostrider 990 has incline or ramp – up to 7 degrees – which isn’t the most incline you can find on a Nordictrack model. But it’s more than the ACT, which has no incline option.
#4 Stride
The ACT wins out here with the choice of 3 different adjustable strides: 18, 20 and 22 inches. So everyone in your home can find a stride that feels more comfortable for them.
The Nordictrack 990 only comes with an 18 inch stride.
#5 Tablet Holder
The ACT elliptical wins out again with this one. Nordictrack has added a sturdy holder for your tablet above the console – so you can watch your favorite shows or movies while you workout. This does not come on the 990 model.
So those are the main differences between the Nordictrack ACT vs the Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 elliptical. They are both great buys – for different reasons. And it depends on what you want at the end of the day.
