Which is Best For You?
Trying to compare the Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 elliptical (note: this elliptical is now called the Spacesaver SE7i):
vs the Nordictrack C 9.5 crosstrainer?
Both come in around the same price point – under $1000 with Free Shipping here. So that leaves a lot of people wondering which elliptical is best for them – how are they different?
This post will outline the main differences between the Nordictrack 990 vs the Nordictrack 9.5 elliptical to help you decide
Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 vs Nordictrack C9.5 Elliptical:
The two ellipticals are very different in terms of design obviously. The Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 is a rear-drive elliptical whereas the C9.5 is a front-drive elliptical (this refers to where on the trainer the flywheel is placed – in front or behind the pedals).
Is one better than another? Both have their benefits. For example a rear-drive elliptical gives you more of a flat running path. A front-drive elliptical can give you more of a slight climbing path.
Also some people feel that front drive trainers can be slightly more stable (because the flywheel acts as an anchor).
The Nordictrack 990 elliptical folds up to save you space. There are also wheels on the bottom for easy movement.
The Nordictrack C 9.5 does not fold. So if you have a smaller workout area (or if you want to be able to move your elliptical in and out of the room), then you may want to go with the Audiostrider 990.
The Nordictrack C 9.5 is the clear winner here – giving you a bright full-color console with web browser:
The Nordictrack 990 elliptical does have a bright, backlit console. But it’s only dual color without the web browser:
#4 Tablet Holder
Again the Nordictrack 9.5 elliptical comes with a tablet holder above the console for added entertainment. You don’t get this with the Nordictrack audiostrider 990.
#5 Power Incline
Incline changes the slope of your elliptical path and can help you crosstrain different muscle groups.
While both ellipticals have power incline (meaning you can change the incline from your console), the Nordictrack C 9.5 elliptical gives you a bit more – up to 20 degree incline.
The Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 only gives you up to 7 degree incline.
A heavier flywheel helps to give you a smoother ride – and it also helps add stability to the elliptical trainer (which is great for longer, intense workouts).
The Nordictrack 9.5 elliptical comes out slightly ahead here – with a very generous 25 pound flywheel. The Audiostrier 990 comes with a still-respectable 18 pound flywheel.
Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 vs Nordictrack C9.5 – Bottom Line:
So those are the main differences between the Nordictrack Audiostrider 990 vs Nordictrack 9.5 elliptical.
Overall, I think the Nordictrack 9.5 gives you a bit more value for the money – especially when it comes to entertainment options.
But if you want a folding elliptical with a lot of great history behind it (it’s been a best-seller for about 3 years now), then you’ll probably prefer the Audiostrider 990.
